The community of Völklingen has not yet surpassed the massive problems ensuite of the closure of the iron works in 1986.
Transformed to a Heritage of Mankind, the Ironworks just begin establishing as a tourist attraction, but not yet strong enough to restart a living community.
In former times Völklingen was a vivid city with a strong industry. Up to nower days Völklingen suffers of the lack of a solid cultural scene.
